Welcome to Bushcraft Spain's top product. Camp anywhere under your own oilskin tarp. The long staple cotton product we use, finished in an oil and wax formula, is a wonderful fabric for tarps and shelters. The ample and solid 3×3 meter canvas weighs around 3kg / 6.5lb and will shelter you during your wilderness adventure. All tarps are finished with a large number of loops (19) on all four sides and along the centre seam. Its layer of wax and oil provides resistance to water, which will slide down the tarp, thus making it very waterproof. We were pioneers in the manufacture of Oilskin Tarps in Europe and we have paid all our care to their composition: all the loops are resistant, since they must withstand the constant pulls of the elements and we add extra resistant central reinforcements along the seam central for those who want to use the tarpaulin as in the diamond or plow-point configuration. The thread is of great strength and the stitches with attention to detail.

A set of 2 organic european waxed cotton double drawstring ditty bags. Each water resistant bag is treated with a combination of beeswax and paraffin. Waxed cotton was used from the mid-1800's until the 1950's when nylon and PVC became available. These bags are stiff, durable and will keep your possibles and tinder dry.

Practical repair or fire kit, pipe or tobacco roll-up oilskin bag with a brass eyelet, a leather cord and an olive wood toggle. Waxed cotton was used from the mid-1800's until the 1950's when nylon and PVC became available. Our 10 oz waxed bag is a versatile pouch whose interior measures 18cm x 9cm (7"1/4 x 3"1/2). The other side of the bag is a big pocket that measures 18cm x 16cm (7"1/4 x 6"1/4). It features a waxed cotton cord that wraps around the bag and is held closed by a spanish leather cord attached to an olive wood toggle. Traditional twine (4mm) and rope (6mm) made from the fine threads of the hemp plant, coated with tar. Tarred yarn has been used aboard sailing ships for rigging, to serve and knot tying, as well as for tying the so-called ratΙines and hanks for centuries, it has been very common throughout the centuries in wilderness areas where it became a basic supply for pioneers. Historically these yarns were made from hemp which had to be impregnated in "Swedish tar" for conservation. Wood tar is washed out by rain and spindrift after a year, until then it is Water and UV resistant. Apply some amount of oil/wax reproofing cream to keep the rope as efficient as the first day. By the way... our tarred rope is resistant to the occasional open flame and it's a great tinder! But how does a rope with these two characteristics work and what extra capabilities does it have? Process the rope fibers to make a bird's nest. Throw high temperature sparks by the means of a ferrocerium rod or similar. It will catch the sparks amazingly! The flame the nest will provide will be very ample, hot and fast: this is called a Flash Tinder. Do you want a more sustainable flame? Use separate yarns of your rope as kindling or just press more tightly some parts of the nest you created, it will help maintain a flame for longer. Blowing into it will restart your flame! Expose a piece of rope to a flame long enough until it finally catches on fire, voilà! You just created a portable flame: this makeshift candle works because of the infused tar in the rope, as it melts and feeds the natural hemp fibre. Not enough light? Wrap a good amount of rope around the end of a branch and light it, you will be crafting a Fire Torch in no time thanks to the waterproofing formula. (If your branch has some resin at the end of it, you add some wax, oil or fat to it, you will make it last longer)

Follow the steps of the Grandfather of Bushcraft.The compact and light 2×2,5 meter cotton canvas weighs around 1,8kg / 3lb 8oz and it proved more than enough on multiple of his adventures in the Adirondacks. The tarp is finished with 9 sturdy loops for your comfort. Its layer of wax and oil provides resistance to water, which will slide down the tarp, thus making it very waterproof. We were pioneers in the manufacture of Oilskin Tarps in Europe and they gained their fame across the World. We have paid all our care to their composition: The Nessmuk Tarp follows the specifications Nessmuk gave in his book Woodcraft and Camping: "A soft, warm blanket-bag, open at the ends, and just long enough to cover the sleeper, with an oblong square of water-proofed cotton cloth 6×8 feet, will give warmth and shelter by night and will weigh together five or six pounds." We took note of this, and since George Washington Sears weighed 47kg (103lb) and measured 1,60m (5' 3"), the Shelter-Cloth had to be modified slightly to be able to cover the bigger campers of today: we added some inches in its width and length to become the handy tarp that many love.

We're proud to announce the Whelen Lean-to Tent !The Whelen Lean-To Tent is one of the classic shelter for bushcrafters, hunters, anglers and camper. It was designed by Colonel Townsend Whelen, who was looking for a possibly lightweight way to go about back in the 1920’s, so it was, that in 1926 he developed what he would call the “Hunter’s Lean-to”. In 1901 a young Spanish American War veteran walked out of the Canadian bush. He was 24 years old, over six feet tall, with a 44 inch chest and a 29 inch waist. Dressed in a fringed buckskin shirt, jodhpurs, high-top moccasins and a campaign hat, Townsend Whelen was well on his way to establishing his place in the pantheon of great outdoorsmen. He carried a typically light outfit. By 1915 he was back in the U.S. Army as a captain with the 29th Infantry Regiment defending the Panama Canal in unmapped country. Whelen set out to explore the Panamanian jungle whenever time away from his duties allowed—always with a rucksack and a light-weight kit. Whelen remained in the military until retirement in 1936. He is perhaps best known today among readers of hunting and military small arms literature. He wrote at least a half a dozen books and was a regular contributor to Field and Stream among others. Through it all, Whelen camped. And even though he had experience with about every kind of shelter available to the sport at the time—his choice, again and again was—the tarp, evolved in the Whelen Tent. This shelter allows you to have a campfire in the front, but its generally even more open to the surrounding, doesn’t have the sewn in floor, and therefore weighs considerably less. This design, which almost has the appearance of half a tent is more than adequate for anything short of -20 degrees or severe bugs. A sloped rear roof, slanted and splayed sides, and a short fore roof panel. Light and easy to pack. The loops along the ridge can be used for tying to external pole set up. Loops on back seams for roping out if the need comes up. This 5kg ( 11lbs ) sturdy 10oz canvas tent has an area, in the standard configuration, of 8m² ( 86sqft) and will shelter comfortably up to 4 people! It can be packed to approx. 40cm x 40cm x 10cm ( 16" x 16" x 4" ) or a 25cm x 50cm (10" x 20") roll; perfect for our Premium Camp Kit's Leather Shoulder Carrier. We were pioneers in the manufacture of Oilskin Tarps in Europe and they gained their fame across the World. The next step was creating tents such as the Whelen Lean-to Tent. Two vents in the middle of the canvas, in the same fashion as those used in the original lavvu, help against the condensation issue many tents have. The 100% cotton canvas, along with the multiple vents allow great airflow and make condensation a problem of the past. This shelter, using two halves with the middle piece open on one side, or used as a wedge tent with only one of the poncho halves, allows you to have a small campfire in the front. When closed, a wood stove can be carefully placed inside*, keeping you warm and comfortable in your own 100% cotton canvas tent.
