The compact and light 2×2,5 meter cotton canvas weighs around 1,8kg / 3lb 8oz and it proved more than enough on multiple of his adventures in the Adirondacks. The tarp is finished with 9 sturdy loops for your comfort. Its layer of wax and oil provides resistance to water, which will slide down the tarp, thus making it very waterproof.
We were pioneers in the manufacture of Oilskin Tarps in Europe and they gained their fame across the World. We have paid all our care to their composition: The Nessmuk Tarp follows the specifications Nessmuk gave in his book Woodcraft and Camping:"A soft, warm blanket-bag, open at the ends, and just long enough to cover the sleeper, with an oblong square of water-proofed cotton cloth 6×8 feet, will give warmth and shelter by night and will weigh together five or six pounds."
We took note of this, and since George Washington Sears weighed 47kg (103lb) and measured 1,60m (5' 3"), the Shelter-Cloth had to be modified slightly to be able to cover the bigger campers of today: we added some inches in its width and length to become the handy tarp that many love.

The robust but light handle, as well as a powerful ax head, help the hitting so that it is strong and dry, in order not to get stuck and bite the wood correctly.
The manufacturing method is unique today in the world, and the good work of Jauregi is indisputable in the artisan ax sector. The upper part of the handle is wider than the rest, so the head of the ax will never fly off, thus providing the extra security that a high-end ax like this requires in its use. Having a container of some sort is one of the most essential items for any time spend in the woods.... but we can do better than that.
A good container should make itself useful in more than one capacity, make cooking a simple chore rather than a Rube Goldberg like exercise. It should be bomb proof and allow you to maximize the amount of water you can boil all while being as portable as possible. This 64 oz Bush Pot by Dave Canterbury has got to be our favorite of all time.
Constructed of food-grade 304 stainless steel, you don't have to worry about what's leaching into your food or water (unlike aluminum). The bail has lockable detents so it stays where you want it, and the batwing handles make holding it a breeze, even when full of hot liquid or food. There is a pour spout opposite the batwing handles that makes sharing a cinch, and a strainer lid if you brought something like pasta!
While this stove IS based off of the design Bushcraft legend Mors Kochanski has been using for decades (itself based on the coffee pot found in old nesting camp pot sets), those are all made of aluminum and are inherently not as safe or durable as this stainless steel model. With aluminum you MUST be careful not to keep it over the fire empty, or you'll burn a hole right through it. You could sleep through the night with this pot on the coals and never have to think twice!

If we chose an enameled or stainless steel one, we would not have to maintain the care that polished steel requires. Based on Spanish American designs dating as far back as the 16th century, this is a foraging pouch that can be attached to your belt. It has been made so as to stay open wide as long as you don't tie up the cordage.
Other foraging pouches collapse when not full, putting berries, herbs, tinder or others in those pouches is a cumbersome task. With this early and trustworthy design you won't want anything else.
Made by hand from quality spanish split leather or cowhide and secured with a strong cordage.
