How do I clean my Oilskin product?

1) Soak it in a bathtub with cold water, or hang it outside and clean it with a hose.
2) Remove debris by brushing with a stiff brush.
3) Rinse with cold water.
4) Let it dry naturally – good air circulation, not in direct sunlight or near a heat source.

1) start with it clean, dry and on a hot day.
2) place it in the sun for several minutes to warm it up until it feels warm and supple to the touch. Do not leave it unattended for an extended period, as with many fabrics, prolonged exposure to sunlight will bleach the fabric.
3) Warm up the cream by placing the can in the sun or in a container with hot water.
4) apply sparingly, using a clean cloth, a little more on the seams and friction points.
5) the sun will spread the oil and wax cream evenly and quickly through the fabric of the coat.
6) a hand hair dryer can be used to work the dressing into the fabric when it is not hot and sunny.

How do I store my Oilskin product?

How can i remove mildew?

The fabric can develop mildew if it is stored damp without being thoroughly dried or in a high humidity environment.

1) It is best to work outdoors if possible; however, you can work in a tub indoors if outside weather is rainy or very humid.
2) Make a solution of 1/3 white vinegar + 2/3 water
3) Apply this solution with a spray bottle while brushing the item with a stiff brush – you can also put the solution in a bucket and use your brush to apply the solution from the bucket.
4) Be sure to scrub all areas of Oilskin that you can reach – both sides of the fabric when possible.
5) Hang it, hose it off and let it dry thoroughly.
