Practical repair or fire kit, pipe or tobacco roll-up oilskin bag with a brass eyelet, a leather cord and an olive wood toggle. Waxed cotton was used from the mid-1800's until the 1950's when nylon and PVC became available. Our 10 oz waxed bag is a versatile pouch whose interior measures 18cm x 9cm (7"1/4 x 3"1/2). The other side of the bag is a big pocket that measures 18cm x 16cm (7"1/4 x 6"1/4). It features a waxed cotton cord that wraps around the bag and is held closed by a spanish leather cord attached to an olive wood toggle. The entire bag measures 26cm x 18cm (10"1/4 x 7"1/4) when open and around 18cm x 9cm (7"1/4 x 3"1/2) when closed.

Imagine finding the perfect camping spot, only to discover your aluminum tent pegs will readily bend when driving them into the ground. This has been an everlasting nuisance for most campers, you can take our word for it: Spain is one of the most mountainous countries in the world! The Toledo Tent Stakes consist of 10 zinc-plated 6mm wide steel wires turned into sturdy nails. The hardened point will displace or break most stones the moment you start driving it into the hard ground! The cross-bar, reminiscent of those famous Toledan swords, will keep the loops of any tent or tarp tightly bound to it, and with a nice tug from it you'll be able to extract the tent peg.

We're proud to announce the Whelen Lean-to Tent !The Whelen Lean-To Tent is one of the classic shelter for bushcrafters, hunters, anglers and camper. It was designed by Colonel Townsend Whelen, who was looking for a possibly lightweight way to go about back in the 1920’s, so it was, that in 1926 he developed what he would call the “Hunter’s Lean-to”. In 1901 a young Spanish American War veteran walked out of the Canadian bush. He was 24 years old, over six feet tall, with a 44 inch chest and a 29 inch waist. Dressed in a fringed buckskin shirt, jodhpurs, high-top moccasins and a campaign hat, Townsend Whelen was well on his way to establishing his place in the pantheon of great outdoorsmen. He carried a typically light outfit. By 1915 he was back in the U.S. Army as a captain with the 29th Infantry Regiment defending the Panama Canal in unmapped country. Whelen set out to explore the Panamanian jungle whenever time away from his duties allowed—always with a rucksack and a light-weight kit. Whelen remained in the military until retirement in 1936. He is perhaps best known today among readers of hunting and military small arms literature. He wrote at least a half a dozen books and was a regular contributor to Field and Stream among others. Through it all, Whelen camped. And even though he had experience with about every kind of shelter available to the sport at the time—his choice, again and again was—the tarp, evolved in the Whelen Tent. This shelter allows you to have a campfire in the front, but its generally even more open to the surrounding, doesn’t have the sewn in floor, and therefore weighs considerably less. This design, which almost has the appearance of half a tent is more than adequate for anything short of -20 degrees or severe bugs. A sloped rear roof, slanted and splayed sides, and a short fore roof panel. Light and easy to pack. The loops along the ridge can be used for tying to external pole set up. Loops on back seams for roping out if the need comes up. This 5kg ( 11lbs ) sturdy 10oz canvas tent has an area, in the standard configuration, of 8m² ( 86sqft) and will shelter comfortably up to 4 people! It can be packed to approx. 40cm x 40cm x 10cm ( 16" x 16" x 4" ) or a 25cm x 50cm (10" x 20") roll; perfect for our Premium Camp Kit's Leather Shoulder Carrier. We were pioneers in the manufacture of Oilskin Tarps in Europe and they gained their fame across the World. The next step was creating tents such as the Whelen Lean-to Tent. Daniel Carter Beard, one of the founders of the Boy Scouts of America, was the first to talk about the Forester's Tent, a light and reliable tent that offers a wonderful cover from the elements. The front of the tent is around 210cm (7ft) wide and 180cm (6ft) tall, while the rear is 90cm (3ft) both tall and wide, allowing to accommodate a camper comfortably, and even the rucksack; the length is about 240cm (8ft), with very little effort 2 campers can have a wonderful shelter with space for their equipment. It is meant to be used with a campfire in front of it so as to profit from the warmth: the design of this Forester Tent provides a sleeping place that won't condensate nor let water in, if pitched correctly. There are many ways to set -up this tent, you can use a big bipod in front of it, you can build a tripod as the very frame of the tent, and even using a long pole from a broken tree is possible, if you use it as a beam for the interior of the tent it can leave throuh the opening at the back; with some rocks you can find around you can secure the sides of the shelter, you won't need any tools! Made of a reliable, and traditional organic 100% cotton fabric; the way they were made. This is our tribute, don't settle for less: cotton fabrics are more breathable, more authentic, naturally UV-resistant, and they are available in Forest Green and Natural Canvas (and Forest Green or Mountain Brown for our oilskin version of the Forester Tent), for setting up camps that are perfect for hunting and trekking. Hot tents, small one-man shelters using one of the halves, three different lavvu / teepee style tent sizes. Everybody knows them, most have them.There was a small improvement to be made: even the polish lavvu size 3 could only shelter two people. What if the group of campers was bigger than two? For those who liked using a wood stove it was clearly impossible to fit two people comfortably and the stove safely. Two vents in the middle of the canvas, in the same fashion as those used in the original lavvu, help against the condensation issue many tents have. The 100% cotton canvas, along with the multiple vents allow great airflow and make condensation a problem of the past. A good container should make itself useful in more than one capacity, make cooking a simple chore rather than a Rube Goldberg like exercise. It should be bomb proof and allow you to maximize the amount of water you can boil all while being as portable as possible. This 64 oz Bush Pot by Dave Canterbury has got to be our favorite of all time. Constructed of food-grade 304 stainless steel, you don't have to worry about what's leaching into your food or water (unlike aluminum). The bail has lockable detents so it stays where you want it, and the batwing handles make holding it a breeze, even when full of hot liquid or food. There is a pour spout opposite the batwing handles that makes sharing a cinch, and a strainer lid if you brought something like pasta! While this stove IS based off of the design Bushcraft legend Mors Kochanski has been using for decades (itself based on the coffee pot found in old nesting camp pot sets), those are all made of aluminum and are inherently not as safe or durable as this stainless steel model. With aluminum you MUST be careful not to keep it over the fire empty, or you'll burn a hole right through it. You could sleep through the night with this pot on the coals and never have to think twice! We've carried one for years now, and it never leaves the pack. We keep our other essential cook gear inside to save space, along with an alcohol stove, just in case there aren't fires allowed, or everything is just too soggy.
